Matteo Guendouzi is set to become the new head coach of Marseille, after being appointed by the club on Monday.
The French midfielder, who played for Arsenal between 2017 and 2020, has been given the task of leading the team in his first managerial role.
Guendouzi, who was born in France but represents Guinea internationally, will be tasked with rebuilding the side following their relegation from Ligue 1 last season.
He will be working closely with his technical director, Bruno Genesio, to ensure that Marseille's squad is equipped with the right players and coaching staff to compete at the highest level.
In a statement released by Marseille, the club said that Guendouzi had "a clear vision" for the team, which includes improving their defensive record and developing a more cohesive playing style.
"We're thrilled to have Matteo as our new head coach," said General Manager Olivier Giroud. "His experience and passion for football make him the perfect person to lead our team towards success."
Guendouzi himself expressed his excitement about the opportunity to work with the Marseille management team and players.
"I'm really looking forward to this new challenge," he said. "I want to bring my experience and knowledge to help us achieve our goals and build a successful team."
With Guendouzi now in charge, Marseille fans will be hoping that he can turn things around and help the club regain their place among the top teams in Ligue 1.
