Stefan Mitrović is set to join AS Monaco as the club's new head coach, with reports suggesting that the Serbian has been offered the job by the French side.

The move comes after a turbulent period for the club, which had endured relegation from the top flight and struggled to attract quality players in recent seasons.

Mitrović, who previously managed FC Porto and has spent time at other clubs including Real Madrid and AC Milan, will take over on January 1st 2023.

"I am very happy about this offer," Mitrović said in a statement. "I have been working hard in my previous roles and I'm looking forward to joining a team where we can achieve great things together."

AS Monaco have struggled to find success under their current manager, Guus Hiddink, who has been accused of not being able to turn a club around.

In his previous spells at other clubs, Mitrović has also faced criticism for his management style, with some fans calling for him to be replaced by a different coach.

However, Mitrović has shown himself to be a talented coach and has already made a positive impact on the club's fortunes during his tenure as manager.

He has led the team to two successive promotions in the past two years and has worked tirelessly to develop young talent within the squad.

With AS Monaco's current roster, it remains to be seen how well Mitrović will succeed in leading the club to its first-ever league title since its return to the top flight in 2019.
