In a major blow to Westwood McKennie, the Premier League side Juventus has announced that the midfielder has been ruled out for several weeks with a knee injury.

McKenzie was called up to the squad for the first time since suffering a serious knee injury in January, but he did not feature against Liverpool on Sunday.

The 28-year-old is currently out of action and will be unable to play again until the end of the season.

"I'm really disappointed that I won't be able to play for Juventus," said McKennie. "It's something I've been trying to deal with for some time now, so it's disappointing to miss out this week."

The injury has come as a shock to both the club and the fans, who were hoping for a positive outcome from the player's rehabilitation. However, the medical team have confirmed that McKennie will need surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

"It's a tough decision for me personally, but I know that it's best for my health and future," said McKennie. "I'll work hard to get myself back into shape and try to get back to training as soon as possible."

McKenzie has already missed many games this season due to injuries and the absence of him could affect his chances of making the starting line-up for the rest of the campaign.

"It's frustrating because I want to be playing every game and scoring goals for my team," said McKennie. "But I'll keep working hard and hopefully get back to full fitness."
